This feature allows you to control devices such as lights, door locks, garage doors, shades, etc. (Devices to be controlled must support Z-wave automation). Since it is part of the security system, you can have devices respond to system commands.

For example, when you arm the security system, it could also turn off lights and lock doors. All automation features are accessible through the phone app giving you control on the go.
